How are the samples collected?
A trained collector will cut a small amount of hair (about the width of a pencil) from the crown of the head. The hair is cut as close to the scalp as possible. This process is non-invasive and prevents the possibility of sample tampering.
What if I have very short hair or I am bald?
If head hair is unavailable or too short (less than 1.5 inches), body hair can be collected from the arms, legs, or chest. Body hair can often provide an even longer detection window, typically up to 12 months.
